Steve Jobs: One More Thing To Learn….

Steve Jobs: One More Thing To Learn….

Steve-Jobs
Steve-Jobs-1955-2011
A rather sad (and VERY sad for that matter), phase in the history of our technological world and the world as a whole.  Very rarely do you have an individual having an impact on the world at this larger a scale.  What started as a passion, a hobby perhaps, and developed into a phenomena that would touch the world.  Steve Jobs always wanted people to learn, innovate, improve, enjoy and share with their surroundings.
After watching a few of Steve Jobs’ presentations, I am convinced that he had meant to release every Apple product so that people can be inspired, and then do something differently or even do different things altogether.  We were all somehow impacted by Steve Jobs in one way or another: From first world countries to other countries; people enjoyed iPods, iPhones and Ipads; clearly this man was present in every industry.  From kids just playing around, to music producers, artists, teachers, techno-freaks, University Professors all the way to International Corporate Executives, one would find at least one of Steve’s inventions in these people’s possession.
Then we ask ourselves: Was there something that Steve wanted us to learn whilst he was alive? YES, YES, YES….Indeed, my interpretation of his message is that, WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETED SOMETHING….there is always….ONE MORE THING or ONE LAST THING….Such is the spirit of the human race, that it should never be content, or satisfied with the way things are; there is always something MORE, something better, something bigger, something nicer, something faster, something smaller, something you know, something you don’t know, something you ought to know, something smarter, something easier.
And I am glad that Steve’s spirit is with us, all around us and that MORE is exactly that….as we say at Learning e-Varsity:
THINK more. LEARN more. DO more. ACHIEVE more. (Thanks Steve, I can see you smiling…)
There is: One Last thing...  Enjoy these clips below (a MUST see):

Thought to ponder: I think the Seacom cable is mourning the death of Steve Jobs….(again, just a thought)

Soweto Festival and Expo 2011

Soweto Festival and Expo 2011

Soweto Festival Expo
Soweto Festival Expo
We are Exhibiting!
Visit us at Stand No.: Y-26  (Loads of Prizes to be won!!)
The annual Soweto Festival and Expo 2011 will be taking place at their new home, namely, The Nasrec Expo Centre.  The history of this fabulous event spans over a successful, growing (yes, sometimes painfully) period since 2005.  The event was initially hosted at the Elkah Stadium in Soweto; not to mention that this facility had no electricity, water or other amenities associated with hosting a successful business and fun event of this nature.  But through their vision, persistence and un-deterred determination, the organizers hosted a historical event in the making.
In the next two years to follow, 2006-2007, this event was moved to Freedom Square in Kliptown.  The venue certainly had better infrastructural advantages compared to the previous year’s venue.  Kliptown has a very rich political and social history.
As with any child, growth was imminent.  The following three years (2008-2010) saw the festival and expo be moved not too distant from the previous venue, the former Vista University (Soweto), now called the University of Johannesburg, Soweto Campus.  Up to that time, this would become the best venue that the show has had.  The success and reputation of this show would show itself in terms of brand recognition and numbers of attendees.  The amount of events and activities added to the exhibition would also grow.
This year, 2011, we see a totally revamped Soweto Festival and Expo.  One the most influential factors is the fact that the expo is held at the Nasrec Expo Centre.  This is a very popular venue, as it hosted the annual Grand Rand Easter Show for many years.  This venue is certainly world class; the facilities are appropriate for an event of this nature and size.  With its air-conditioned, secure exhibition halls, the SME’s that will be exhibiting here will certainly not feel small at all.
The approach taken by the organizers, Adele Lucas Events, is that the event needed to be associated with its original brand conception.  Soweto has become a brand: moving from the poverty-stricken, apartheid-built brand, to an attractive and international tourist attraction.  So the organizers saw it fit to keep the culture of giving Soweto the recognition it deserves and the much-needed activity(especially economically for the SME’s), that this very populated places should get.
There is plenty for the Family and the uprising entrepreneurs to see.  Corporates such as ETV, Jozi FM, Soweto TV, Kaya FM, Daily Sun/Sunday Sun, The Wholesale and Retail Sector Education and Training Authority (W&R SETA) and many more sponsors and exhibitors will be there to ensure that the community as a whole gets what they want (whether it is fairly fun or business opportunities).
Learning e-Varsity has positioned itself to take advantage of this excellent opportunity.  Visit our stand and you could walk away with plenty of prizes.  From free airtime, to laptops, bursaries and….(well, let me not spoil it for you, come and see it for yourself).  We will be giving away tickets to this event too.  Adults will pay: R30, Children, Pensioners and Disabled will pay R10.  Buy your tickets at the nearest Computicket, or visit our Facebook page and see what other activities we will be involved in.

Exhibition and branding opportunities

The Soweto Festival Expo is the principal event in Soweto that draws together business, SMMEs, youth, community organisations, consumers and all the people of Soweto on an annual basis to celebrate Soweto’s richness and diversity. It’s an event not to be missed by organisations wishing to connect directly with the burgeoning Soweto market.
The Soweto Festival Expo’s mission is to contribute to the long-term development of greater Soweto’s economy and community. Soweto residents’ annual retail spending power tops R5-billion but only a quarter of this finds its way back into the hands of Sowetans. The festival therefore provides a vehicle for businesses in Soweto, South Africa’s largest township, to reclaim their rightful share of this spending by placing local enterprises and SMMEs alongside some of the country’s leading brands. The festival will create a sense of pride in Soweto, in the eyes of all South Africans, and help establish Soweto as a global brand. It will also provide a platform for the promotion of government departments, community organisations and NGOs.

Improved exhibitor environment and facilities

Exhibitors will be given every opportunity to brand and market themselves at the exhibition, which will feature large and small organisations. The overall environment in which the exhibition takes place is going to be vastly improved compared to previous years. We will be installing air-conditioning and paying more attention to the overall look of the exhibition, raising the bar on quality for exhibitors and visitors alike.
Over 7 000 square metres of exhibition stands are available, offering the consumer and trade visitor an unrivalled range of goods and services to satisfy every need.
